I almost never buy anything vintage online. Almost all the vintage clothing that I own, was bought in person. There is something very gratifying and exciting about searching for and discovering a perfect vintage piece, it almost always incites some hyper-ventilation within me, as if I have just luckily happened upon them and they are about to be snatched right before my eyes and never seen again. This usually leads to me trying them on as quickly as possible, to see if they are my match…and when they are…it feels meant to be.
Sometimes finding those pieces happen the second I walk into the store and other times, it takes multiple looks over the store, to land on the pieces that speak to me.
I also think that it can be overwhelming when you go into a vintage or thrift store because there usually is an abundance of things you simply are not interested in. Or there are pieces that have one intended purpose, that are screaming to be used in another way. You just might not be in the mindset to see it. This is why I think before you go shopping, you should create a little mood board of outfits and styling ideas that you want to recreate. And make sure you have eaten a meal and properly hydrated!
I of course always hit up my trustiest of pals, Pinterest.
I think she is a great first step. Knowing the silhouettes, styles, materials, colors etc. that you are looking for is a great first step. Do I always do this? Absolutely not. Is it helpful though? A lot of the times.
I know that I am looking for feminine and delicate sheer pieces, sporty pieces like rugby shirts, soccer shorts or sneakers. I am loving sailor hats, darker denim, more masculine style, low-slung trousers. I am wanting a new pair of boots, micro shorts and I will be on the lookout for well structured more boxy coats and blazers. More silk scarves to tie on my hair or cool belts, whether they be large leather ones or more sculptural metal ones. (the polkadot dogs are just for fun and I wouldn’t mind having a matching look to them)
Like I mentioned before, sometimes I walk into a vintage shop and immediately find a piece that speaks to me. Most recently, I was in Florence and I went to a place called Momo Vintage. If you saw my last Outfits & Interiors then you saw this gorgeous jacket. I honestly had zero intention of buying anything as I had just splurged on a Miu Miu bag not even an hour before…ooops.
But when it comes to vintage pieces, if they are a match and they create that excitement within me…I have a very hard time turning them down. And this sailor JPG jacket was no exception to that.
I usually always consult my twin sister Reese before I buy pretty much anything…and if we are being honest, I consult her before I do just about anything, not just buying clothes. Anyways, I texted her and her response was pretty much exactly what I was looking for.
Thankfully, she takes being my 24/7 on-call life consultant seriously, because now we both have this gorgeous jacket to wear.
Recently, I was in LA and I stopped by my favorite vintage shop called Moth Food. I got this very cool rugby style jersey, which is something I had been on the hunt for. I love the way you can dress it up and down and how it adds a nice sporty/casual touch to my outfit.
Next thing, I found were these beautiful navy blue (wool?) trousers. They need to be shortened a little bit but I love the fit and structure of these trousers. They add a polished element to any look.
Anyways, because I am not always in cool cities with amazing vintage, or I just simply don’t have the time to search in person. I do sometimes like to turn to the internet for my vintage clothing fix. Although, this is actually something I am new to, shopping for vintage clothes online.
Recently, I have been saving quite a bit of vintage clothing and accessories, mostly on Etsy. I thought maybe you all would be interested in seeing some of those. Keep in mind I do typically save pieces that are my sizes…but I did try to add some of different sizes as well.
Before I do that, I need you to see this sweet little handmade 1950’s dress, in the dreamiest floral fabric, that I got on Etsy recently for $79!
I’m sorry but….is she not perfect?
I always gravitate towards drop waist dresses but the fabric on this dress really just got me. I love it so much. The pink lemons! The colors are perfect. She can be summery but also has the right colors for fall as well. I am now an online vintage shopping convert.
Now let’s get into some of the online vintage pieces I have been saving. While my instinct is to hide them away, I am going to share because I know you all will enjoy these pieces. Wearing cool and unique pieces is a one of the great joys of life. So, why not share in that, with like minded cool people?

I know that a lot of these are on the pricier side but they were just too beautiful not to share. They are also good resources to learn time periods of clothing or exact styles/seasons from certain brands.
They are also great for inspiration when exploring vintage clothing shops for yourself. I hope this was helpful and let me know if you buy any of these or if you have any recent favorite vintage finds.
