Outfits for when you can’t be bothered to think about what to wear.
For those days where you want to be comfy but put together.
When I’m busy, moving around a lot, or even just working at home…I want to be put together and feel like I’m ready for the day, but also feel comfortable and free. So, here are some outfits that I think are great for a quick “put an outfit on and get on with your day because we got shit to do!” kind of look.
I think what helps me most with this category of dressing, where I want to be comfy but put together, are the materials I choose to wear. I personally feel most comfortable when I’m in my sweats at home…but overtime that just doesn’t feel good to always have on. So, what I like to do, is grab for pieces that feel comfy like sweats but are actually a thoughtful planned out outfit that I feel confident in.
It’s important for me to state that I am embracing the simplicity of these looks, while also reminding myself that simplicity does not mean boring or unconsidered.
The first look that came to mind was one I put together a couple weeks ago, so you may have seen it already on my Instagram. I’m not sure why I feel weird showing a repeat outfit…but I loved the way this outfit made me feel and it fit into this category perfectly. Also, I repeat outfits all the time and you should too!
This look entails the most perfect quarter zip from The Line by K… I love the way the neck zips all the way up. Something about it makes me feel comfy but keeps my posture upright, in a way that makes me feel more put together…unsure if that resonates with anyone?
I paired it with some track pants that have a knit detail down the leg, which helps to bring in some more color and visual interest. Paired with my favorite green bag by Chora Store. I love the color of this bag with the navy pants. The silver detailing on it polishes the look off and has a similar design detail to the knit panel down the side of the pants. I love to bring in a little feminine ballet flat to, again, make a casual look feel “put together.” The pale pink looks so nice with the green bag and I love the way they pair with some simple gray socks.
I also love throwing on a trench coat, to feel that much more put together. I love this one from Cordera.
For my second look I knew I wanted to style this thick ribbed skirt by Short Sentence. When I first got this skirt, I had to resist the urge to wear it every single day. It has such a nice weight to it and it is soo comfy…. (do we have a count on how many times I say the word “comfy”?)
It’s a comfortable skirt that really holds its shape, it feels like a lot of effort went into it…even when it really hasn’t. I paired it with the most comfortable vintage hoodie known to man, an oversized black leather bag from Madewell, some fluffy wool socks from Souer and my trusty Eytys loafers. Something about it feels like I’m striking the right balance between casual, polished, masculine and feminine. Which is really all I hope for in most looks.
Also, another tip I have for adding warmth, comfiness, color, texture etc…is to tie a sweater around your neck as an accessory. It’s such a quick and easy added element to bring in. I know, I know…not groundbreaking whatsoever but it’s something I am constantly doing for a little extra somethin’, somethin’. Play around with the colors!
For my third look, I am here to reclaim red and green outside of just Christmas time. After all, these two are complimentary colors! Also, I must mention that it is currently 68 degrees in Atlanta right now…so I totally understand that shorts this time of year is not going to work for everyone. But if these were pants, I think it would still work well. Let’s start with this red sweater from Sezane, it is the softest and warmest sweater I own. I am always grabbing for it. I love the color and shape it provides. A good sweater goes a long way.
These little Lacoste green stripe boxer shorts are very light weight and comfortable, they feel like pajamas and honestly look like pajamas...which I am totally okay with. The green and white stripes add a nice pattern/texture.
I think this Gucci bag with the gold strap really brings in the “polished” element that this look needs.
The fourth look is one that I feel can be switched up and really played around with. I love a capri legging with a simple little dainty shoe. I think this as just a base outfit, can be done in so many different ways. Today, I am just keeping it comfy and simple. I also think these capris from Belle the Label add a little more visual interest because of the lines on the side and the little bows. However, even if they were plain black capris, this look would still be successful. Overall, I think you can play around with this formula. Capris, dainty shoes, and some sort of coat, sweater, jacket to throw over it. Again, nothing groundbreaking, but today is all about quick & easy outfits.
