I feel like the bedroom is a room in the house that can easily be overlooked. Or at least one of the rooms that falls to the bottom of the to do list. It is easier to tackle more public spaces, since those of course are seen so much more.
Our bedroom currently is in a weird in between stage. I recently got these beautiful Nordic Knots roman shades (color is Sunrise) and the cutest little sail boat painting, as a gift for my birthday. These two things actually solidified the direction we want to go for the design.
It’s a nice bedroom, don’t get me wrong. Having the nice window treatments really elevated the space in a pretty significant way. For me though, it just feels a bit lost. Now it needs more clear direction and cohesiveness. It needs things to bring it all together.
For the actual bed itself I really want to switch out the bed frame. I have been talking about wanting to get a new bed frame for a while now. I have mentioned this one bed frame in particular from Sunday Shop Co. While this one may be out of my budget, it is the style I want for the bed frame.
Then of course, the bedding needs a revamp. I like when my bed feels like a hotel. I just got these Boll & Branch sheets that are incredibly soft and luxe. I love the simplicity of good fresh white sheets and a plush duvet paired with a patterned coverlet or quilt on top. Something like this or this.
Since there is a closet that juts out into the space, it creates this funny little alcove area on my side of the bed. (also why the bed isn’t perfectly centered) It also makes the pathway to my side of the bed a bit narrow, which is even more of a reason to switch out this large bed frame. However, I like that this little alcove exists and I want to make it feel purposeful and thoughtful.
What I am thinking here is either a bench with cute seat cushions and a wall sconce OR a little console/vanity with a little table top mirror and a little lamp. I could also add some smaller pictures or plates to the picture rod that this current piece is hanging on. Either way I want it to feel purposeful and layered.
Another thing I could do, now that I am looking at it, is adding a radiator cover. That isn’t necessary but could be fun.
While I love the style of this dresser, the stain is not my favorite, it leans a bit orange but I am going to make it work! I think a mirror hanging above it, little pieces of artwork and a lamp would do wonders. I love the potential that dressers offer for styling a cozy moment in a bedroom. A chance to showcase little personal picture frames, special items and the best spot for a lamp to provide cozy lighting.
For some reason I am feeling this lamp with a fun color lamp shade, maybe something like this or this.
Also, ignore the giant crack in the wall <3
There are really lots of different styling possibilities when it comes to a dresser. I will be on the look out for things that feel suited for this spot and play around with it.
I do love these little added cabinets under the window. They make for a nice big ledge and more places to hide all my things. I think this could be worked on though. Could see new lamps in this space, coordinating with the other window or even a sconce on the inside of the window molding.
My boyfriend has been eyeing these ones for a while now, which I have found a vintage version I also love in this beautiful yellow color. However, I do love a more traditional style table lamp, so that is always an option.
The french doors desperately need some fabric to cover them. It would make for more privacy and another way to add in a nice soft material and potentially more color/pattern.
I recently started following this incredible textile designer Yumo Yuan who makes these silk screens. I would die to have them on these doors.
However, cost wise curtains mounted on the door is probably more realistic, which I also love. I love these ones from Gotain. I could also play around with hardware etc.
Lastly, I definitely need to add a rug in here. I do love the idea of a jute or sisal rug, something like this. If not that, then more of a flat weave rug. Those two feel aligned with the style I am trying to accomplish.
I clearly have a lot of different ideas and styles that I want to tap into. Sometimes I like too many things and that it makes it hard to decide. I know a lot of people can probably relate to that.
I would love to hear what you guys think. <3

I was in a beautiful house recently and the homeowner had layered rugs everywhere. I really loved how she paired rugs and covered the floor. I could see a sisal rug in your room underneath a smaller softer rug for coziness
Honestly think some of my mirrors/consoles would look incred in your place - selling lots of furniture in Carroll gardens! <3
Eg mirror -
